🚀 New: Batch Updates for CSV library edits

Batch Updates lets teams export library data to CSV, edit supported fields in a spreadsheet, and import the file back into Kinship to apply changes in bulk.

Export

Export is now a configurable workflow available to every user. Choose the fields you need before downloading, use the default selection, or select all fields. Exports reflect the current view and any filters you have applied, so you can work with a focused set of items or materials.

Import

Content Managers and Admins can import CSV files to update supported fields in bulk: Name, Description, Material Class, Keynote, Mark, URL – Manufacturer, and URL – Documentation.

Kinship reads CSV columns by header name, not column position, so the uploaded file does not need to match the exported column order. Imports are library-wide: Kinship matches rows by ID and updates the corresponding items or materials wherever they are in the library.

Batch Updates page

A new Batch Updates page, linked from the bottom of the Library landing page, lets you review imported CSVs, see how many items were updated, and start a new import.

Example workflows

  • Standards rollouts. Add prefixes or suffixes to item names to align with company naming conventions.

  • Bulk description updates. Review and update descriptions across large sets of content to improve searchability.

  • Material clean-up. Update Material Class, Keynote, and Mark values across materials.

Safety

Batch updates are recorded in Library history and on the relevant item or material history pages. If an import fails, the Batch Updates page identifies issues such as invalid headers, missing IDs, name clashes, and unmatched rows.

Permissions

  • Everyone can export using the configurable field picker.

  • Content Managers and Admins can import CSV updates.
