🚀 New Batch Update — edit your library in a spreadsheet

Renaming a thousand items, fixing descriptions after a migration, or cleaning up years of accumulated metadata used to mean opening one page at a time. Now you can do the whole job in a spreadsheet.

Batch Update introduces a configurable CSV export and a bulk import that reads it back. Export from anywhere in your library — a list, a collection, a material class, or the whole library. Make your edits in Excel, Google Sheets, or whichever tool you prefer, upload the file, and Kinship will update your content in a snap.

Export is now a configurable workflow available to every user. Pick exactly which fields you need before you download. A sensible default is pre-selected, or hit Select All to bring everything across. You can export just the ID and Name for bulk renaming, or include Revit Version to review content that needs updating. Exports reflect the view you're in and any filters you've applied, so you get just the items, categories, and materials you need.

Bulk import, for content managers and admins

Once your CSV is ready, Content Managers and Admins can upload it to apply changes in bulk. The fields you can edit today: Name, Description, Material Class, Keynote, Mark, URL – Manufacturer, and URL – Documentation.

Reshape the CSV columns however you need. Bath Updates read by header name, not column position, so the file you upload doesn't have to look identical to the one you exported.

Import is library-wide. The CSV doesn't need to come from the same listing you're uploading into — Batch Updates read the IDs in the file and finds the matching items and materials anywhere in your team's library and collections.

The Batch Updates page

A new Batch Updates at the bottom of the Library landing page allows you to review all CSVs you have imported, including how many items were updated. You can also kick off a new import directly from this page with the Import CSV button.

Workflows this unlocks

  • Standards rollouts. Use Excel to add prefixes and suffixes to item names, to quickly update company naming conventions.

  • Add descriptions in bulk. Review and update descriptions for thousands of items, enhancing searchability.

  • Keynote, Mark, and Class updates for materials. Curate your materials library — create and assign materials to classes, and fix Keynote and Mark values.

Built-in safety

Every batch update is recorded on each item's history page and in the Library history. If something goes wrong, the Batch Updates page explains what failed and why. Invalid headers, missing IDs, name clashes, or rows that didn't match anything in your library are all called out.
