Eyewash Station
Our latest collection of free Revit content continues our work with industry experts Rushing Co. This week we’re taking a quick look (no pun intended) into laboratory safety with a manufacturer-specific eyewash station. Eyewash stations are a critical fixture for labs that was highlighted to us by Rushing Co and their work in laboratory MEP coordination.
Eyewash stations are used in environments where the eyes could come into contact with hazardous or corrosive elements. Flooding the affected area with water flushes out any contaminants and provides on the spot relief. Eyewash stations can come in different installation methods such as deck mounted, wall mounted or pedestal.
Our eyewash station Revit family is based on the G1814P model from manufacturer Guardian. There are three built-in types for the different colors of ABS plastic that the station comes in. These are wall-mounted stations with the appropriate Revit connectors to work with domestic water and drainage systems.
With a file size of 552 kb, our Revit family is half the size of some of the other eyewash stations we’ve seen out there, which are essentially exploded CAD blocks. There are three levels of detail in 2D and 3D to provide appropriate views at different scales.
The use of 2D geometry in plan view and elevations facilitates a fast workflow in Revit when placing units or working on layouts.
Lastly, the family uses a custom image for the instructions flag to deliver a higher level of realism without increasing file size.
