What’s New – July 2024

We hope you’re having a great summer! Here’s a cool treat for a (hopefully) sunny day – all the latest updates for more refined navigation and management in the Kinship web app.

Improved Downloads page with new enterprise deployment packages

You can visit the Downloads page by clicking on your user icon in the web app. Now, you can download both the latest stable and beta releases of the add-in and view their version and date. Enterprise deployment installers are also available to download, which include:

  1. MSI for remote deployment
  2. MSI for SCCM/Intune deployment (New addition)
  3. MSI for SCCM/Intune deployment (New addition)

Improved search in Model listings

You could always search your Models in Kinship by information set in a model’s Project Information in Revit, such as Project Name and Building Name. Now you can also search by the central model’s file path.

Search in filters

You can now search in the Category, Manufacturer, and Lists filters. This makes it much easier to find the filter value you’re looking for when you have a long list of options.

Users can now see the content they’ve most recently loaded in a “Recently Used” section at the top of the Library landing page. You can click See All on the right to expand this into a full listing.

Improved Team and User Settings

Visit the Settings page by clicking on your user icon in the web app. With this update, you can make changes to your own Profile as well as make changes to the Team Settings (if you are a Kinship Administrator).

Users can now choose between using the original search and the new navigable search.

We’ve also redesigned the Team Settings to make them easier to navigate and manage.

Keyboard shortcuts

We’ve added a set of keyboard shortcuts for navigating listings in the Kinship web app. Use the shortcuts below to quickly switch between view options and to access filters and search.

Support for in-place families

In-place families can now be added to the Library and Collections. Simply select the in-place family in your active view or in the Revit project browser, click on “Add to Library” or “Add to Collection” in the Kinship add-in panel, and then choose “Current Selection” from the dropdown of available options.

Note that in-place families within a model are not uploaded when choosing “Current Model’s Content” from the Add to Library or Add to Collection dropdowns.

Further improvements to meta-category pages

The “meta-category” pages for Components, Systems and Annotation & Details pages were already showing recently used content. We’ve now improved these pages to show content grouped by Revit categories, as well as categories grouped by disciplines, for quicker access.

Model filename is shown on the family instances page

By popular request, the filenames for models where a family has been used are now shown on the Project Instances page. The filename is shown underneath the model’s Project Name from its Revit Project Information.
